美国互联网零售商亚马逊提出了“反对过度包装”的倡议书，希望能够用易回收的纸质包装来取代目前通常使用的塑料包装

这一提议立刻得到了费雪（Fisher-Price，美国婴幼儿玩具品牌）、美泰（Mattel，美国玩具品牌）、微软等商家的支持。目前已经有19款产品立刻响应了亚马逊的倡议。但是亚马逊创始人兼首席执行官杰夫•贝索斯(JeffBezos)坚信还会有更多的公司和产品加入这个倡议中，最终能够实现所有的产品都抵制过度包装。

新的包装有各种各样的方式，但是通常都是在纸箱内放入纸质隔板来固定商品。所有的包装都非常容易拆开，并且还可以回收再利用。零售商和制造商们是否会继续积极响应亚马逊的倡议，还需要时间和消费者的考验。
